Thank you for taking an interest in my design work! I don't have anything here yet, but check back often!

Most of my graphic experience is freelance design work, flyers, business cards, logos, t-shirts, album art, etc.

I am currently Lead Graphic Designer/Art Director on an upcoming cross-platform shmup called Disembogue, more details to follow

portfolio
etc

I'm not sure what I'm going to put here yet. Miscellaneous things, etc ;)

Web Development

This site is mainly an experiment in Perl soon to be in conjunction with PHP and possibly MySQL w/PDO, when I migrate this site to host with some MySQL lovin. The PHP portion will be pretty raw, and I will not likely adopt a PHP framework, such as Zend, and will focus mainly on the basics. Dangerous? Yes. Fun? We'll see.

Tertiary Goals:

  • Learning to implement jQuery, and learning to create tweaks that allow me to custom-tailor features that will not alter the frameworks I work within.
  • Familiarizing myself with uses and implementations of JSON (JSON::PP and native PHP libraries, since I will not likely adopt Zend, though I might change my mind on this as the need arises, but considering this will be a Perl first deal, I may not delve into the PHP side of this).
  • Attempting to deploy some sort of social media and/or network widgets or tools within a useful context on this site.

Game Development and Gaming

Mobile Devices/Development

The big draw to mobile platform development for me is three-fold: its still a relatively new and young market/area, it presents new ways to be creative with new input types for control and experience (accelerometers, multi-touch), the ability to tie things into the real world via GPS/tower location.

While I don't know much now, I plan to learn Java and other related languages in order to target Android development, as their SDK and barriers to entry are nigh non-existant as compared to Apple's heady iOS. Not to bash on the iOS platform, its just not within my means to development the kind of applications found in the App Store.

Geographic Information Systems/Science - Outside the box.

A conceptual chart of what may come...

GIS -> 	education ->	UMN
	portfolio -+->	theory -+->	CONRES ->	multicriteria analysis (MCA) MOLA
		   |		+	Spatiop -^
		   +	gaming ->	world immersion

Gaming and GIS?

I'm a huge geography guy, (well, a guy huge into geography) so when I saw Google Sky Map it made my jaw drop. This kind of tech on just a handheld device? The level of immersion that could be achieved is exciting. Now... just imagine a game with content driven or influenced by location/time/date. Maybe its massive scope pipe-dream stuff, but thats the kind of things I think about.
